1981 in Salzburg geboren, erster Cellounterricht mit fünf Jahren. Später Violoncellostudium am Mozarteum Salzburg bei W. Tachezi und C. Hagen. 2000 Fortsetzung der Studien in Berlin, zunächst bei M. Sanderling, dann bei JP Mainz. Kurse und Unterricht u.a. Heinrich Schiff, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain und Pierre Boulez.
Kompositionen für seine eigene Formation "Continuum", sowie Auftragswerke u.a. von der Semperoper Dresden und dem Klaviertrio Xinowa Sej. Breites Spektrum seiner Werke von zeitgenössischer ernster Musik über Tango Nuevo und Elektronik bis zur Popmusik, außerdem Projekte gemeinsam mit Schauspielern, Dramaturgen und Choreographen in Linz/Österreich, Berlin und New York. 2005 Solo - Debut in Salzburg mit Schostakowichs 1. Cellokonzert (JPS). Verfasser zahlreicher Kinderliteratur (beim Musikverlag Varner/München) sowie pädagogische Projekte u.a. mit dem Konzerthaus Berlin/Ensemble Modern.
2008 Gründung der Band "Lab of The Halo".
Seit 2003 vier CD-Produktionen seiner Musik. Konzertexamen als Cellist (UdK Berlin). Zahlreiche Mitwirkungen in verschiedenen Formationen für Neue Musik und Orchestern, u.a. Ensemble Adapter Berlin, dem Deutschen Symphonieorchester Berlin, Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Ensemble Intercontemporain Paris, Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin uva. Seit 2010 Mitglied des in Köln beheimateten Asasello Quartetts.

Wolfgang Zamastil ist Komponist, Cellist und Pädagoge, seit 2000 in Berlin. Konzertexamen als Cellist. Diverse Projekte/Filme zusammen mit Choreographen und Regisseueren von Berlin bis New York. Arbeit u.a. mit Richard Siegal, H. Lachenmann, P. Boulez, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain. Uraufführungen u.a. in der Semperoper Dresden und HfM Berlin.
Seit 2010 Mitglied des Asasello Quartetts.

Born in Salzburg/Austria in 1981 Wolfgang Zamastil at first studied the Violoncello at the local university 'Mozarteum', moved after his high scool diploma to Berlin in 2000 and continued his studies at the Berlin Universities HfM and UdK up to diploma, graduated as master. Always being interested in contemporary music of any field he founded his own ensemble 'continuum' in 2000, starting with his own extended compositions in the field of tango nuevo and developing it to a more specialized modern music concept. Since 2000 he produced four Albums with Continuum playing his music. 2005 he achieved a one year scholarship by 'Ensemble Modern' (as a performer) and is being invited for several projects by this Ensemble continously since then aswell as by the Ensemble Intercontemporain (Paris). In the same year he played his Solo - debut in Salzburg (Shostakovich 1st Cello Concerto). Zamastil composed music to several films, pieces for theater and dance and performed in Europe and USA. He published lots of literature for children and young musicians and worked as a performer with personalities such as H. Lachenmann, P. Boulez or H. Birtwhistle. 2007 he founded the Indie-Rockband 'Lab of the Halo' together with the composer Sagardia. An Album is being produced. Furthermore he has been invited by several Bands and Songwriters to play or arrange their music, such as Oren Lavie. Since 2010 member of the Asasello String Quartet in Cologne.

Wolfgang Zamastil is a cellist, composer and pedagogue.
Completed his cello studies after diploma with the graduate recital. Did several projects/films with choreographers, actors, computer animators and directors in Europe and USA. Worked among others with Lachenmann, Boulez, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain. First performances of his music at Semperoper Dresden and University for Music in Berlin. Going on composing and playing he performs with different ensembles, among them his own ensemble Continuum and his indie-rockband Lab Of The Halo and, since 2010 he is stale member of the Asasello String Quartet in Cologne, which is the main part.
